Sch 40 PVC Caps Structure
Schedule 40 PVC caps can be either threaded or non-threaded. Threaded caps are female threaded, so they screw on to the male end of a pipe. Non-threaded caps slip into place and can be permanently connected using adhesive, if desired.
Non-threaded caps, when no adhesive is used, are easier to remove than threaded, making them the cap of choice in systems where a line may be added at a future date or where access to the system is necessary. The basic structure of caps, which slip over the end of the pipe, makes them different than plugs, which fit inside the pipe, although both perform a similar function.
Sch 40 PVC Durability
Because these caps are made from durable schedule 40 PVC, they can be used in many situations where metal or similar materials would not be durable enough. Schedule 40 PVC does not corrode when exposed to toxic chemicals and can withstand exposure to the sun and outdoor elements without damage. These caps are often found in irrigation systems, outdoor structures, like tents and awnings, and indoor plumbing systems. The maximum temperature for schedule 40 PVC is 140 degrees, but as long as the fluids inside the system do not exceed this temperature, these caps are a versatile and affordable way to stop the flow in a PVC system. We stock schedule 40 PVC caps in diameters from 1/2 inch to 12 inches.
