Eaton Basket Strainer Buying Guide

To determine which Eaton basket strainer you need, you should know the following:

 1.  End Connection Type

 Eaton basket strainers come in four different types of connections:

  • • Flanged 125#
  • • Flanged 150#
  • • Flanged 300#
  • • Threaded


 2.  Connector Diameter Size

When it comes to connector size for an Eaton Basket Strainer, people often mistakenly look at the size of the filter basket it is connecting to.

However, the correct connector size is based on the diameter of the pipe that the basket strainer is connecting to.

Eaton basket strainer connector sizes range from 3/8” to 18”.  Custom engineered models can come in larger sizes up to 36”.



3.  Material

Eaton basket strainers come in five different types of materials:

  • • Bronze
  • • Carbon Steel
  • • Carbon steel with abrasion resistant 1/8" Tefzel® liner
  • • Iron
  • • Stainless Steel

 



4.  Perforation or Mesh

Eaton basket strainers come with a choice of basket perforation or mesh.

 a.  Basket Perforation Size

 Basket strainer perforation relates to size of the holes or piercings of the strainer.

 Eaton basket strainers come in the following perforations diameter sizes:

  • • 1/32”
  • • 3/64”
  • • 1/16”
  • • 1/8”
  • • 5/32”
  • • 3/16”
  • • 1/4”
  • • 3/8”
  • • 1/2”

 

b. Basket Mesh

 Basket mesh is an additional lining over the perforated basket for finer filtration.

 Depending on the Eaton basket strainer, it can work with basket mesh of:

  • • 20
  • • 40
  • • 60
  • • 80
  • • 100
  • • 150
  • • 200
  • • 325
  • • 400*

 *Sizes 10" through 18" limited to 60 mesh.



 5.  Single or Double Basket

 Eaton Basket Strainers either have one or two baskets.

 The basket strainers that hold one basket are referred to as simplex, while those that hold two baskets are called duplex.
