Schedule 40 PVC plugs are available in a spigot or male threaded end. Both are simple to install and can be used with adhesive, if desired, but adhesive is not required for a tight seal. These plugs are often found in home irrigation and plumbing systems. They can also be used in framework construction, such as when setting up an outdoor tent. Leaving the end of a pipe open in these situations does not allow water to leak, but it does allow insects or other animals to get inside. This can create a health hazard or damage the structure, but the solution is quite simple with the addition of a plug. Should the design's layout need to be adjusted, removing a plug is quite simple.

These schedule 40 PVC plugs come in diameters ranging from 1/2 inch to 4 inches. They are durable and are able to withstand the wear and tear that comes from being used outdoors. They also will not corrode easily when exposed to acids and bases, which means they can be used in chemical mixing situations. They are commonly found in residential cold water lines, irrigation systems, chemical mixing and outdoor construction. These schedule 40 PVC plugs are quite affordable, making them a popular choice for both homeowners and contractors who need to stop the flow or limit access to a pipe system.
