Thomas & Betts' Ocal conduit system is designed to be better than the rest. This is true when it comes to their conduit unions as well. Ocal's double-coat unions are first coated with blue urethane then a PVC coating is bonded to the exterior. This provides amazing corrosion protection in all sorts of environments. Aside from that, Ocal unions are also explosion-proof and dust-ignition proof, making them ideal for hazardous areas.
There are two main styles of Ocal unions - male and female. Male conduit unions are made to connect conduit to fittings. Female unions connect conduit to conduit and enable future changes to be made if needed. Both styles are available in 1/2" up to 6 inch size. Multiple PVC coating colors are available, but standard is dark gray (almost black in color). Ocal unions are suitable for use in the following environments: Class I, Division 1 & 2, Groups A, B, C, D -- Class II, Division 1, Groups E, F, G -- Class III, Division 1 & 2.
