Why Use CPVC Check Valves over PVC Check Valves
They also withstand corrosive chemicals better than traditional PVC. CPVC has a smooth interior wall, which means flow is relatively unhindered, and this makes this a superior material to other valve materials, like metal, that can slow down the flow because of a rough interior wall. CPVC check valves are used to protect expensive equipment, like filters and pumps, that can be damaged when backflow slips through the system. Check valves automatically release pressure without allowing backflow. They are relatively affordable, providing a cheap way to protect expensive equipment. They can be easily removed, repaired and replaced when needed, and the valve has elements that can be replaced without replacing the entire unit if necessary.
These valves are available in three basic models. In a true union ball check valve, the flow will be turned on and off automatically by the pressure in the system. The pressure will push the ball into the off position when it reaches a certain point. Wafer check valves also stop flow automatically based on the pressure in the system, but they do so using two plates that combine to stop the flow. Finally, swing check valves are some of the larger check valves, and these use a disc on a hinge to stop reverse flow.
In each of these systems, the CPVC check valve works automatically, stopping backflow when pressure reaches a critical point. This makes them vital in wastewater processing, aquariums and pools with expensive filtration systems, firefighting and fire safety systems, and any other application where preventing backflow is a priority. The durability of the CPVC material means they can be used in high pressure, high temperature situations as well.
