Duplex strainers, such as the Eaton Model 50, are perfect for batch or continuous process applications because it doesn’t require any line shutoff to access the strainer baskets for changing or cleaning. The Model 50 duplex strainer is a pressure rated plug valve with integral straining baskets. No tools needed to open the cover – it’s quick and easy with the swing away yoke design. This strainer is made so that switching to the other basket does not stop the flow because of the unique port design in the diverter plug.

  • Iron, Bronze, Carbon or Stainless Steel • Flanged connections in 5", 6" or 8" Size
  • Optional ductile iron construction • Choose your basket mesh or perforation (20-400 or 1/32 - 12")

Duplex Basket Strainers

There are two main kinds of basket strainers for pipeline applications: simplex and duplex. Duplex strainers allow for pipeline flow to be diverted to auxiliary baskets so that the line doesn't need to be shut down for maintenance or cleaning. This allows workers to empty one basket while the strainer keeps running - protecting all process machinery from debris and contaminants.
